Individual training in effective public speaking for managers
Are you a manager? Do you want to improve how you assert yourself when speaking, and do you know when it is time to stop talking? Do you want to make better speeches, improve how you keep the team on track or how you manage difficult conversations? If so, then take Rhetoricas individual course for managers in public speaking and communication. In this course we focus on both your strengths and weaknesses and ensure that you can handle all types of communication situations with energy and impact.
Content
We deliver individual discussions and training in Danish or English for managers who wish:
- to put forward good proposals, give good presentations and hold good meetings
- to be better at handling difficult situations and conversations
- to work on the ability to communicate clearly
- to give helpful feedback
- to strengthen the ability to argue
- to take charge of the body language
Method and training
The course consists of individual training where, after being introduced to the
training methods, you are initially recorded on video in one or more communication situations, after which we make an analysis of what we should train you in order to achieve maximum impact.
The subsequent training is held at your workplace or at Rhetorica, where you will be trained for a total of 10 hours spread over 5 training sessions with one or two weeks between each session. Between the training sessions we look through your videos for development and continued effort so nothing is overlooked and focus is maintained on the most important aspects for the individual participant.
One training session could, for example, consist of:
- Plans. How do you organise a meeting or a proposal so you maximise the chance of convincing your recipients?
- Body language and conversations. How do you position yourself at meetings? What dictates these set positions? What distance should you be from your employees/customers if you want to have maximum effect at meetings or in daily conversations when you are making a proposal?
- Argumentation and conversation techniques. Advice about how you can steer a conversation and can, for example, strengthen or weaken your arguments or give an opposing argument.
- Body language and conversations. What can you read from other people’s body language, and how can you support the conversation by physical means?
- Establishing credibility. To appear credible is an essential technique – and a speciality of public speaking. These techniques can be taught.
- Speaking skills. This section is about putting a proposal together and delivering it confidently.
We end the training with a joint evaluation, where you get advice and tools for how you can continue to work on and improve your public speaking abilities even further.
Preparation
We make much of preparation as it is our experience that the most important success criteria is that all expectations for content, method and tempo are achieved both before and during training. Therefore it is crucial that we have an insight into your work duties. This is ensured by our analysis as well as interviews with the participants.
